Since our protagonist appears to be drugged, we have decided to follow the guide on this article which explains how to make someone look under the weather. Below we experimented with pale foundation, sun cream, moisturiser, colour correcting foundation and fake sweat (glycerine and water). The results are below;

These head shots are with make up, we managed to dull down the red in the persons face, and give a sweaty / clammy impression.
Regarding costumes, the protagonist will wear dark casual clothing to avoid the audience being distracted from the action. His clothes may hint that he has been away for a while (since they will be dirty) but do not give any hint to the audience about who the man is.
