British Film Institution

Last Friday I went to the BFI to learn about my coursework project - the two minute film opening. Dexter Fletcher talked in the afternoon and he gave me an insight into the do's and don'ts of a film opening.

His advice was to; always stick with simplicity and clarity, only use a few locations when on a limited budget, plan what to do, but don't feel like you have to stick to the plan, always film, rearrange and be flexible, storyboard your ideas, use one font and lastly to make sure to keep to the theme / colour pallet. I saw the movie openings of "Wild Bill", "Sunshine on Leith" and "Eddie the Eagle", these gave me ideas of how I can shoot with limited budget and will really help me when planning my coursework opening.
